Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Waste Reduction Week at Southcore Financial Centre. From October 15-19, 2018 /SFC hosted a week-long educational exhibit reTHINK WASTE, as well as a clothing and household textile Recycling Collection Drive. Read more below:
A week-long pop-up educational exhibit designed to challenge our views on waste materials through the idea of a Circular Economy. Ten items – from apparel to toys to daily necessities were displayed with accompanying factoids about how consumers can make changes to reduce our individual and collective environmental footprint. Participants were encouraged to visit the exhibit’s online quiz to enter into a prize draw. Winners will be notified by end of October.

In support of Partners in Project Green and Diabetes Canada, the Recycling Collection Drive invited the /SFC community to bring their old and unwanted clothing and other household textiles from October 15-19, 2018. The clothes will be sold by Diabetes Canada to Value Village. The funds from the sale helps Diabetes Canada further its mission while reducing the amount of textiles that end up in landfill.
